Q & A
Q: My former trainer sold supplements, protein shakes, and energy bars. Do you provide a similar service?
A: Selling supplements and meal replacements is popular with many trainers, particularly in commercial gyms. However, this practice can be dangerous and is against the Code of Ethics for most personal training certification organizations, including ACE®, unless your trainer is also a Registered Dietitian or a health care professional. Most people don’t need to take a lot of supplements. Protein shakes and bars can be good on the run, but it is always best to get your nutrition from whole foods whenever possible.
Q: I’m confused by all the different diets and meal plans out there. Can you help me figure out which is best for me?
A: A life-long healthy diet includes a balance of healthy carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. At Libra Fitness, we provide our clients with the basic tools for making the healthiest food choices. We also emphasize ways to pack your allotted calories with as much nutrition as possible by taking advantage of a wide variety of craving-controlling, high-nutrient, low-calorie fruits and vegetables. If you desire a formal meal plan, we are happy to refer you to a Registered Dietitian.
Q: My doctor recommended that I see a physical therapist for a recent injury, but as a personal trainer, can’t you help me instead?
A: At Libra Fitness, we don’t play doctor. We do not diagnose ailments or treat injuries. We honor your health care professional or physical therapist’s extensive training in these areas. We are more than happy to work with them and follow their exercise or other recommendations to help you recover as quickly and safely as possible.
